Ice Beads
A tiny cold raindrop lands upon the frozen canopy,
Slowing down as it meets each drop that came previously.
Losing the last of its warmth, it holds the last bead tight,
Creating another ice bead that sparkles in the light.

The Weeping Mother
The Weeping Mother It started with a shift that only her sense of smell caught. That musty, wet dirt smell that whispered the end of the drought was near. The breeze picked up, dancing among the trees and playing with her hair. The sky was turning dark grey and the chill heightened the senses. She looked up, willing the drops to fall from heaven, bringing life back to Earth. The first drop landed on her forehead, raced down her face and jumped off her chin to land on the parched ground. As more drops landed, tears streaked her face and mixed with the life sent from heaven, It was the rebirth of spring, of earth, of everything - a chance to start anew. -HCB
